Janeen Ceparano Wilkinscompleted her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Degrees at the Eastman School of Music. In addition to Viola performance, her studies there involved string pedagogy and arts and administration. Her undergraduate degree included computer science studies and a French minor. Her administrative positions include Administrative Assistant and Executive Assistant. While majoring in Computer Science, she was selected as an INROADS intern, an organization which prepares minority youth for leadership roles in Corporate America. Her work experience at General Electric Capital included Telecommunications, Technical Help Desk, Video Teleconferencing and Computer Programming.
Janeen was the recipient of several awards including the Career Development Grant from the American Association of University Women, the Eubie and Marion Blake Memorial Scholarship, the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship given to artists and musicians studying in Paris, France, the Suzuki Association Teacher Development Scholarship and the Rochester Chapter LINKS Scholarship for African American students of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY.
She was a faculty member of both the Hochstein Music School and the Eastman Community Music School for six years. She now runs her own private music teaching business where she teaches Suzuki and Traditional Violin and Viola students ages 3 through adult. She performs regularly throughout New York State including performances with the Chautauqua Symphony, Chautauqua Chamber Music Society, Mercury Opera Rochester, Anchorage Festival of Music of Anchorage, Alaska and the Gateways Music Festival. She has performed in the United States as well as, France, Germany and Holland. Janeen pursues an active writing and publishing career in music and social issues. She has been published by SUNY Press and Strings Magazine and is featured in a book entitled, 'Go, Tell Michelle, African American women write to our new First Lady.' See her resume.
